Name: Ana-MariaCountry: Romania

First of all let me congratulate you for this wonderful competition. I've always been interested in traveling {1} and this is an opportunity I can't ignore.

So, for start {2}, I would like to tell you about a wish I had {3} since I was a little girl. I know that it might sound silly coming from an {4}17 year old, but I would really like to take a photo {5} with Micky Mouse. He is still my number one cartoon hero and I have to admit that even now I can't go to bed without the Micky Mouse my dad brought me from England when I was only 4.

My second wish refers to my school activity. I wish I were better {***} {6} Maths. My parents are both Maths teachers and my brother even went to the International Mathematics Olympics and I...well...let's just say that I'm not that talented. The fact is that I just don't make the connections. So, my wish would be to improve in a way my Maths so that my parents would be proud of me, too.

My third wish would be to throw a party for my 18th anniversary {7}. I want this because I want all my friends to be by my side that day...and because we always know how to have a good time. For that I need my mum not to be mad with me because of my low grades in Maths.

Well these are only a small amount {8} of my wishes but the others are more easy to accive {9}!

INTERNET - THE GOOD AND BAD

Practice Paper Part 2: An Article

You have seen the following question in a computer magazine:

INTERNET - THE GOOD AND BAD

What difference has the internet made to your life? Can you imagine life without email and the world wide web?

Write in giving your views on what you like - and hate - about being online, and we will publish the best articles.

Write your article for the magazine. (about 250 words)

First Think

Ask yourself the following questions to help you get started:

1. Make a list of what you use the internet for:e.g. sending email, finding information from websites, making friends, studying online, etc.

2. Sum up in one sentence the difference that each aspect has made to your life:e.g. Being able to send an email in seconds has made it easier to keep in touch with friends and relatives all around the world...

3. What are the things about the internet that you dislike? e.g. it can be expensive to be online, slow download times, information on websites might not be accurate... etc.

4. Finally, decide what life would be like without the internet. Better or worse? Remember that the magazine editor is interested in strong opinions!

Think of a good catchy title for your article.

Then Write

You should look at your first draft of the task and decide:

1. Have you answered all the questions?

2. Did you start the article in an interesting way to catch the reader's attention?

3. Did you start a new paragraph when you changed the topic?

4. Is the layout and organisation appropriate?

5. Is the language accurate with a good range of structures?

6. Is the style appropriate and consistent?

7. Will it have a positive effect on the reader?
